Scope definition
  • This is the defining of the objectives and requirements for a project.
Sharding 
  • The process of breaking down a large database into smaller pieces for easier management.
Problem analysis 
  • Understanding problems and needs, and finding suitable solutions.
Requirements analysis 
  • Determining the conditions that need to be met.
System Boundary
  • The line that marks the inside and outside of a system and that sets off the system from its environment.
Constraint
  • A limit to what a system can accomplish.
 System Environment
  • It is everything external to a system that interacts with the system.
Joint Application Design (JAD) 
  • A structured process in which users, managers, and analysts work together for several days in a series of intensive meetings to specify or review system requirements.
